Cubs Minor League Recap: 4-16-14

Guy insulted me once, I pissed in his gas tank, car never drove straight again. Iowa Cubs Alright, Matt Szczur was 0-4. I’m tired of writing of that so unless otherwise noted, Matt Szczur was 0-4. Arismendy Alcantara said he was tired of not hitting and hit. He was 3-5 with a double and triple. He scored twice, drove in 2 and struck out once. Chris Coghlan was 2-4 with a double...

Cubs fan nearly causes Bartman-like incident for Yankees’ Alfonso Soriano (GIFs)

Despite a Chicago Cubs fan’s best — or worst — efforts, New York Yankees outfielder Alfonso Soriano somehow managed to snag a foul popup during the sixth inning in the second game of Wednesday’s doubleheader after chasing it down near where the left field line and the seats almost meet in Yankee Stadium. What makes […] The post Cubs fan nearly causes Bartman-like incident...

Chicago Cubs fan tries to recreate “Bartman moment” at Yankee Stadium

Chicago Cubs fans seem to be oblivious to rules and etiquette when it comes to foul balls down the left field line.  If it’s your own team and in the stands, don’t touch it.  If it’s the other team and on the field, you should probably not give the ump a chance to call interference.  This Cubs fan, apparently not learning the Bartman lesson, seems to fall in the same trap...

Masahiro Tanaka dominates Cubs with 10 Ks in Yankees win

Masahiro Tanaka was able to put his early-inning trouble behind him in a dominant outing against the Cubs in a 3-0 win on Wednesday in the first game of a split doubleheader in The Bronx. The right-hander overmatched Chicago’s feeble lineup, allowing just a bunt single to Junior Lake in the second inning until the seventh, when Anthony Rizzo bunted against the shift for another...

WATCH: Anthony Rizzo takes batting practice with REAL meatballs!

The team over at MLB Fan Cave came up with a wonderful idea – have Chicago Cubs slugger Anthony Rizzo take batting practice with actual meatballs. Donning an apron, Rizzo went through with it and demolished every meatball that came his way. Check out the hilarious (and messy) clip below! The post WATCH: Anthony Rizzo takes batting practice with REAL meatballs! appeared first on...

Chicago Cubs Anthony Rizzo Takes Batting Practice With Meatballs

That’s one tasty meatball! Chicago Cubs first-baseman Anthony Rizzo decided baseballs were too easy to hone his hand eye coordination, so the slugger sought out something smaller. Rizzo who has family ties to the Sicilian town of Ciminna went back to his roots crushing tasty meatballs instead of taking the traditional batting practice. The forecast for today’s Cubs game is...

Darnell McDonald joins Cubs front office two weeks after retiring

Earlier this month journeyman outfielder Darnell McDonald announced his retirement via Instagram and he’s already landed a good post-playing gig in the Cubs’ front office as a baseball operations assistant. McDonald was the Orioles’ first-round pick in 1997 and went bust as a prospect, but then stuck around in the minors and wound up playing parts of seven seasons in the big leagues.

Fantasy Baseball: The closer carousel

The closer carousel is wild. Already, this early in the season, many closers have lost their jobs or faced injuries. In fantasy baseball, saves are typically hard to come by. In many leagues, every closer is owned. In this article, I’m going to highlight some of the more intriguing closer situations looming throughout baseball, and name a few players that should see some save opportunities...

Cubs & Snakes Split a Pair at Riverview Park

Chicago Cubs Top Prospect Struggling

Chicago Cubs top prospect Javy Baez is headed to the 7-day disabled list after spraining his ankle Friday night.  It wasn’t like he was sliding into home plate to score the winning run, either.  Baez messed up his ankle during pregame fielding practice. Baez has had a rough start to his 2014 season.  Last week Baez was ejected from a game and also go into it with a teammate...

How the Chicago Cubs will make the playoffs

The Chicago Cubs have not been to the postseason since 2008. It seems to be expected that they will not make it again this year. However, one can’t exactly say they aren’t capable of being a surprise team. The Milwaukee Brewers have won nine in a row and own the best record in baseball. Few, if any, could’ve seen that coming. It remains to be seen if Milwaukee can keep its...

Chicago Cubs: The unthinkable option would be the wrong one

The Wrigley Field rooftop owners want the view, the Chicago Cubs want the renovations. The Cubs have had discussions with the city about adding a 650-square-foot Wrigley Field sign  that could potentially block the view from the rooftops. As a kid, there was that word your parents told you not to say. And if you said it, you’d have to put a quarter in the jar. Well, the organization...
