Late April update!
What's up Yardbarker?
Sometimes, it amazes me how blessed my career has been: I'm going to the White House Correspondents' Annual Dinner in DC this Saturday! I’m a guest of Congressional Correspondent William Douglas who writes for McClatchy News Service. President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama will be there, and a whole lot of DC power players --- and I'm not talking about the Redskins. Jimmy Kimmel is hosting the event, so you know it's gonna be funny.
The proceeds from the dinner go to deserving journalists and student journalists for awards and scholarships. Shout out to Chris Trevino from my alma mater, University of Maryland, who was awarded a scholarship last year! Tune in to C-Span Saturday night to check it out.
Remember last year's dinner when President Obama was cracking jokes about Donald Trump, meanwhile the Navy Seals were busy taking out Osama Bin Laden? I wonder what he's got in store for us this year. I'm excited!
I'll check in a little later to let you know how it went…
Until then...

One new blessing you can share with your blog readers is the power of Google. You and Mrs. Douglas were terrific sports allowing my husband to click a picture of you, once we correctly verified your identity by googling you on my iphone. You know, we Eagle fans don't venture far from our boys. However, Mantill and I will be watching a few SF 49ers games this fall, since we met one of the nicest young athletes in the NFL. Your fans should know what an authentic, joy-filled guy you are in person. While you tell your blog readers about meeting Obama and fans, I will be telling my friends that I met "Vernon Davis".
Warmest wishes, Mantill and Joanne Williams
